Kiwanis Park began in 1995 as a dream, a vision of what service to the children and youth of the Taylorville community could be.

 

Taylorville Kiwanis Club members, working with the City of Taylorville, first built the pavilion where countless families have gatherings large and small just about anytime of the year.

 

 

 

Over the years, a boat dock, playground equipment, and benches have been added, to make Kiwanis Park one of the most active locations on Lake Taylorville.

 

 

And it's all due to the generosity of Taylorville Kiwanis Club members donating their time, and the community at large supporting Kiwanis fund-raisers that paid for the pavilion initially, and continue to pay for upgrading of the facility each year.

 

Recent additions have been a retaining wall to prevent water and soil from washing into the pavilion, and benches for family members to sit and watch their children or grandchildren as the kids enjoy being a kid.
