(Taylorville)—The Taylorville Kiwanis Club held
another successful Pancake and Sausage Breakfast on Saturday (January 30th)
at the Taylorville High School Cafeteria.
Kiwanis members, along with several members of the Taylorville High
School Kiwanis Key Club, did the cooking and serving of pancakes and
sausage.
Several hundred residents turned out for the annual fund-raiser.
Proceeds from the event go toward children and youth programs in the
Taylorville community, such as Coats for Kids, Kiwanis scholarships for
graduating high school seniors, sending kids to summer camp, and the
Christian County YMCA.
Carol Chandler was again chairperson of this year’s Kiwanis Pancake
and Sausage Breakfast. The
Kiwanis Club thanks all those who turned out to make the event another
successful one for the local organization.
The
Taylorville Kiwanis Club is part of a global organization of volunteers
dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
Weekly meetings are held Tuesdays at noon at the Taylorville Memorial
Hospital Auditorium.

(Taylorville)—The Taylorville Kiwanis Club, along with the Illinois
Secretary of State’s Office and the Illinois Department of Transportation,
co-sponsored a Car Seat Safety Day today (Saturday) at Bob Ridings in
Taylorvlle.
Nearly 20 vehicles came thru the 3-hour child car seat safety check,
which was free of charge. The
Taylorville Kiwanis Club also provided a limited number of car seats, to
replace those that were found to be defective.
Mike Mayer of the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office, said the
event is part of a statewide effort by his agency and the Illinois
Department of Transportation, to keep children safe.
Kiwanis members participating in the event included Dean Ray, Larry
Kemner, Jerry Woodard, Dick Wamsley, Eric Kahle, Brenda Spurling, Dan Sneed,
and Randy Miller.
